The free Ecommerce Model is the simplest structure of the models for forecasting Ecommerce businesses. Creates a forecast of acquisitions, retentions, revenues, acquisition costs, cost of goods sold, CAC and LTV, and is easy to use for ecommerce or transaction-style businesses. I built this tool to help entrepreneurs understand the mechanics behind forecasting the growth and revenues of an ecommerce business, in a package that is easy to use, easy to edit, and easy to understand.

It intentionally simplifies the business down to key inputs, and by default does not include expenses and a calculation of net income.

Optional Historicals sheet allows you to drop in historical cohort retention data to automatically analyze past performance and use past retention to forecast future cohort performance.

Cohort-based forecasting

This tool is built on a cohort basis to allow you to account for changes in customer retention, repeat orders, and revenues per cohort over time. It also includes an optional Historicals sheet to allow you to drop in historical cohort retention data to automatically create an average retention curve to use for forecasting. Model can be downloaded for use in Excel or copied to your Google Drive for use in Google Sheets. Can be used in Excel, Google Docs, and many other spreadsheet programs. One time purchase, updates automatically distributed for free.
Any number in blue with grey shaded background is an input (i.e. an assumption or data point that can be changed), anything in black is the result of a formula. Change blue at will, change anything in black with caution. More on model formatting.
All cells and formulas are unlocked and no macros are used - as in all Foresight models - so that you can make edits as needed and completely understand what is going on.
